industrial water

CED’s Industrial Water treatment applications are used to optimize most water-based industrial processes, such as: heating, cooling, processing, cleaning, and rinsing, so that operating costs and risks are reduced. Poor water treatment lets water interact with the surfaces of pipes and vessels which contain it.

In many cases, effluent water from one process might be perfectly suitable for reuse in another process somewhere else on site. With the proper treatment of industrial plants, a significant proportion of industrial on-site wastewater might be reusable. This can save money in three ways: lower charges for lower water consumption, lower charges for the smaller volume of effluent water discharged and lower energy costs due to the recovery of heat in recycled wastewater.

Coagulants

When it comes to fresh water and wastewater clarification, products that utilize a single type of coagulant chemistry typically do not provide exceptional results. Unlike single-component products, our coagulants comprise a family of products that typically utilize two or more chemistries to significantly improve the clarification of Industrial Water and Wastewater over a broad range of conditions.

Most of our coagulant products are formulated from organic polymers, aluminum salts and tannins to give unusually broad effectiveness over a range of pH, temperatures and turbidities, making them ideal replacements for conventional dual-treatment programs.

CED coagulants are also effective in oily wastewater applications such as emulsion breakers. There use in conjunction with pH and temperature control enhances the speed of the emulsion break as well as improving clarity of the water.

Defoamers

The causes of foam in a wastewater treatment plant are varied. In secondary treatment systems, foam is typically caused by biological activity. However, foam can also be caused by mechanical action and chemical contamination. Surfactants in the influent or in some polymer treatments can also cause foam. Regardless of the cause, foaming in secondary treatment and final effluent areas can result in a variety of environmental, health and safety issues.

Our defoamers comprise a range of proprietary products that effectively control foam and entrained air in municipal wastewater systems. In addition to collapsing or breaking down existing foam, the defoamers remain on the water’s surface to prevent the formation of future foam. Common application areas include the activated sludge process, aerated lagoons and plant outflows.

Dispersants

In biological slime issues, dispersants allow biocides to work better in reducing slime formation. CED’s dispersants function by surface area charge alterations, which control crystalline growth. CED has a complete line of dispersants to control oil, grease and emulsified oils.

Flocculants

Our flocculants are a clean solution for optimal liquid/solids separation in a variety of industrial and municipal processes. They are synthesized from organic, macromolecular, water-soluble polyelectrolytes that are based on polyacrylamide.

The flocculants are used to clean Industrial Water and municipal wastewater, to treat process and circulation water and to clarify raw or surface water to produce drinking or industrial water. They can be used wherever effective liquid/solid separation is desired to accelerate the sedimentation or flotation of suspended solid particles and to improve the dewatering of thickened sludge during static or mechanical dewatering processes.
